Christopher Grant Harvey is a writer and director born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He began making films at the age of 16, creating short projects with friends in his back garden using limited resources. These early works served as a hands-on introduction to filmmaking, allowing him to experiment with visual storytelling outside of a formal framework.
Through these self-initiated projects, Christopher developed a strong instinct for kinetic cinematography and rhythm-driven editing, using movement and pace to maximise modest production values. His early “backyard” films demonstrated an ability to turn creative constraints into expressive visual language, prioritising energy, atmosphere, and momentum. This formative, trial-and-error process laid the groundwork for his directorial voice and continues to inform his work today.
After international film festival success with his short films Tears In The Rain (2017) and Lunch With Hitler (2023), he has continued his intense desire to tell engaging stories.
